Fancy Chinese at ”Hakkasan”

Happy Birthday to my boy Peter a.k.a Pinkyotto CEO!!! Twelve of us celebrated his birthday at this fancy shmancy Chinese restaurant called Hakkasan near Times Square in midtown. There’s no fancy door on the outside. Then when you walk in it is like you are checking into a boutique hotel. This place’s decor doesn’t have the wow factor of other big Asian Fusion restaurants likeBuddakan or TAO. Maybe because it has a low ceiling and not the open space like other famous oriental restaurants. My photos are of all the dishes our group ordered from the prefix menu. My favorite dish, hands down, was the Crispy Duck Salad. It was very yummy! My second favorite dish was the Silver Cod. My food photos don’t have prices because, like I said, it was a prefix menu. My SuPa generous friend, Peter, treated us for most of the dinner and we all paid only $100 each. He is always such a gentleman to all his friends (^_^) Happy Birthday P ~ Thank you for dinner ~ Cheers

The Plaza Food Hall by Todd English The Plaza, 1 West 59th Street

Sunday afternoon-Midtown patroling’s report is here! Located in the basement of the iconic Plaza Hotel, The Plaza Food Hall has 8 different counter stations, created by chef Todd English (he owns Fig & Olive and others). Each station prepares different foods including: seafood, sushi, dumplings, noodle, pizza, tapas, pasta, bakery, and a grill station…the great thing is that any place you sit, you can order food from all the menus (not like at Eataly); so sit anywhere, but I think the seafood station counter is the best seat, so I sat there and got an up close view of all the action! I had heard some of the popular dishes are the sliders, especially the Prime Rib Slider and Fig & Prosciutto Flat Bread. We started with wine and oysters, and I thought what a great value for a good sized seafood sampler at $35. The sliders and flat bread was very good too. One mistake was the Grilled Lobster, it was so small for $21 and not even tasteful (>_<)! Oh well…it was our first time here…next time I will definitely try the grilled whole fish (the couple next to me was having a Branzino that looked amazing). There were also many great salad choices like a yummy looking Mediterranean Salad. The crowd was a mix of Foodie- Downtown and Uptown neighborhood families to International hotel guests. I’ll definitely go back when I’m Uptown, it’s perfect for an after museum drink & tapas or a hearty dinner.
