Chef’s Counter ”Dell’ Anima”

Cuisine: Toscan Italian

Neighborhood: West Village

Sister restaurants: L’artusi, L’apicio

Recommend Dishes: CHARRED OCTOPUS rice beans, chorizo, chicories / BRANZINO IN CARTOCCIO confit potatoes, cerignola olives, citrus / SWEETBREADS rhubarb, orange, apple

Seat: I would definitely recommend to sit at the chef’s counter for a party of 2.

Previous Review:

Dell’anima is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. Decor and atmosphere are nothing spacial yet cozy and really great Toscan Italian food. I sometime visit their sister restaurants, L’artusi in West Village and L’apicio in East Village but Dell’anima is still my favorite of those three restaurants. Dell’Anima is known for their pasta dishes but I never care for them. My top three dishes are CHARRED OCTOPUS rice beans, chorizo, chicories / BRANZINO IN CARTOCCIO confit potatoes, cerignola olives, citrus / SWEETBREADS rhubarb, orange, apple. Also I highly recommend sitting at the counter right in front of the kitchen to see chef Elwood and his team in action.

Caffe Storico

Brunch at ”Caffe Storico” Upper West Side

Spaghetti Carbonara pancetta & sunny side egg $16 ♥♥♥1/2

Happy Sunday everyone 🙂 I blogged about dinner at Caffe Storico when they first opened three year ago ( read more about Stylish dinner at Museum ). Caffè Storico is  in the New York Historical Society located on Upper West Side. Me and my friend had a plan to visit at American Museum of Natural History across the street from restaurant so last minutes we decided to have a brunch before museum.  As soon as I walked in I got smile on my face 🙂 Because restaurant was just as lovely as I remembered from three years ago! Pure white walls, super high-ceilinged with brass chandelier, lemon yellow banquettes, a window into the sculpture arcade, open kitchen and a marble table, nineteenth-century china from museum collection adorn shelves with victorian-style woodwork that soar 15 feet to the ceiling. Me and my friend started our brunch with cocktail. I had a ”Dante” in Martini glass (grey goose vodka, averna, blood orange). My cocktail was good but my friend had a better cocktail called ”Bellini Stagionale” (prosecco, bacardi limon, strawberry, mint). This place is known for pasta so we ordered Spaghetti Carbonara pancetta & sunny side egg. WOW! What a great idea to serve Carbonara for brunch!  Also we had NY Strip Steak & Eggs roast potato & mixed greens. Steak was over cooked and disappointed us little bit but atmosphere and vibe of place made it up to us BIG time! I highly recommend you to come here for brunch if you’re planing to visit UWS.

Ps – I don’t come to UWS often so I decided to take full advantage after museum! I enjoyed walking through Central Park and enjoyed cocktail at stopping by Tavern On The Green and end my night at Cafe Boulud for dinner. #LovelySunday

Bob’s Steamed Clams & Mussels, Green Chilies, Tomato, Fresh Mint & Olive Crostino 14.00 ♥♥♥1/2

I came with my friend for dinner when weather was super cold. He wanted to try ”Grilled Guinea Hen” so we had but we both didn’t care for this dish at all. Spaghetti Carbonara was OK yet nothing memorable. The best dish from my dinner was Bob’s Steamed Clams & Mussels, Green Chilies, Tomato, Fresh Mint & Olive Crostino for sure. I normally avoid to order Mussels, I found it Mussels are quite boring. This dish got great broth and little neck clams were yum!

Corsino Cantina          637 Hudson St, (At Horatio St) New York

Corsino is located off the Meatpacking District in the West Village. This Italian restaurant is known for its multi choice of crostini and casual Italian dishes. Jason Denton is the award-winning restaurateur of Corsino, ‘Ino,’ Inoteca, ‘Inoteca e Liquori Bar, and Lupa all in New York City and Betto in Brooklyn. I saw them on my favorite food show ” Unique eat ” and thought how unique to have a place have so many choices of seasonal and unique crostini. In the springtime they have outside tables and inside has a great atmosphers too. I like Corsino best of all the Jason Denton’s places. Not as popular as Inoteca, near my shop in the Lower East Side, but I like that they are not super loud and packed. I’m not a hard steak eater but somehow one of the best dishes is meat !! Any of their steak or short rib specials of the day never disapoint me with an amazing sauce. Of course, if its your first time you should order plenty of the crostini for the table since that’s their signature dish. And it’s no fun sharing food if youre not clinking glasses, so make sure to order some wine because the list is very wide and fantastic (^_^)!
