Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria      53 Great Jones St, New York, NY 10002

Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria opened four months ago, and is located on Great Jones St. a block away from their original Il Buco restaurant on Bond St. Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria is a combination of an Italian restaurant & Italian gourmet grocery which makes their own house made cured-meats, bread, sea salts, olive oil, and pasta….. How SUPER is it that they make their own cured-meats in the basement of their restaurant?!  The concept of Il Buco reminds me of Eataly in Flatiron District. Even though one is small and rustic (Il Buco) and the other (Eataly) is a huge commercial place. I notice this is the new restaurant trend now in NYC.  Until a few years ago, the trend was British Gastropubs like Freemans’, Spotted Pig, Breslin …ect.  Cutie Patroller’s daytime face is Fashion Patroller (I own Cutie Room so..) and just like fashion, food has their own trends…Lol…For instance, the Local Ingredients and Farm to Table trend isn’t going away anytime soon. Cutie Patroller will be back here for dinner in a few weeks to give you my full experience of the dinner patrolling report. Also Il Buco’s famous prosciutto and salami report will be on the OMG NEWS section (only if it’s indeed OMG good..hehe). I strongly believe prosciutto is THE exception of pork!!!!!!!! I have a few close friends who won’t eat pork out of all the meats “”Kim!!! I’m talking about you!!!!!! Kim is always on the prowl in downtown NYC for cute places and great food as my #1 Undercover Cutie Patroller (^_^)”” Prosciutto AINT pork!!!!!!!!  just like Sea Urchin (uni) is not just a seafood…..hahaahahhahahahaha

The Plaza Food Hall by Todd English The Plaza, 1 West 59th Street

Sunday afternoon-Midtown patroling’s report is here! Located in the basement of the iconic Plaza Hotel, The Plaza Food Hall has 8 different counter stations, created by chef Todd English (he owns Fig & Olive and others). Each station prepares different foods including: seafood, sushi, dumplings, noodle, pizza, tapas, pasta, bakery, and a grill station…the great thing is that any place you sit, you can order food from all the menus (not like at Eataly); so sit anywhere, but I think the seafood station counter is the best seat, so I sat there and got an up close view of all the action! I had heard some of the popular dishes are the sliders, especially the Prime Rib Slider and Fig & Prosciutto Flat Bread. We started with wine and oysters, and I thought what a great value for a good sized seafood sampler at $35. The sliders and flat bread was very good too. One mistake was the Grilled Lobster, it was so small for $21 and not even tasteful (>_<)! Oh well…it was our first time here…next time I will definitely try the grilled whole fish (the couple next to me was having a Branzino that looked amazing). There were also many great salad choices like a yummy looking Mediterranean Salad. The crowd was a mix of Foodie- Downtown and Uptown neighborhood families to International hotel guests. I’ll definitely go back when I’m Uptown, it’s perfect for an after museum drink & tapas or a hearty dinner.

Il Pesce

Assortment of Cheese & Salami $22 – ♥♥♥ Half Dozen Oyster & Mozzarella & Prosciutto Set $24 – ♥♥♥♥– 200 5th Avenue

This is 50,000-square-foot – Italian gourmet groceries store with individual retail departments offering the best of Italy (pastry, bread, a butcher, a fishmonger, wine, pasta, coffees, cured meats, cheese, etc.), some of which are directly connected to their own sit-down restaurants with waiter service, and there is a first-come-first-served bar area, La Piazza, where you can stand at a marble-top table and drink wine or eat salamis and cheese. Mario Batali say “We’re not a food hall. We’re a grocery store with tasting rooms (charged ) and restaurants “.  I’m sure Manzo is great restaurant but I like to seat first come first service counter located at I IL Crudo ( east counter ) at La Piazza area, If you wanna have seafood & cure-meat and need to sit this 8 stools couter is only choice & best !!!! good luck finding seat. I am so impress each time at this counter how young man is passionet about his job and explain today’s special seafood and wine sellection to go with it (seliusly most happy worker I never saw ). Durling 2 hours what I do here is 70% dinning winning 30% of shopping. I shop great freshly made bread, dessert and fresh mozzerela, cure meat. Meat and seafood are some quite pricy so I don’t shop at Eataly. I was impress in Paris like a great champane & oyster at Galeries Lafayette front of seafood station, in Japan any department store they have amazing food hall in basement and top floor is at least 10 choice of restaurant but specially ISETAN Shinjuku in Tokyo. But now New Yorker we have Eatly (^_^). I didn’t go back here this summer but I can’t wait to see 15th floor beer rooftop garden opened spring.

Highly recommend to sit under the sign of IL Crudo’s counter seat. Only 8 stools… good luck getting it but it’s the best seat. Watch oysters getting prepared and there’s so much great energy in the background of the IL Pizza standing table.
