Also Italian restaurant Antonioni’s opened a few months ago on the corner of Rivington St and Chrystie St. Antonioni’s  is owned by the same people who run Cafe Gitan.

Red Hook Lobster Pound was born at the kitchen table in the midst of the recession by Ralph Gorham and Susan Povich in 2008. While sitting at their dining table in Red Hook, Brooklyn devouring fresh lobsters that they had just brought back from a friend in Portland, Ralph proposed a crazy idea to his wife Susan. He suggested they open a lobster pound in an empty storefront in the building that they owned but were unable to develop due to the contracting credit markets.  Red Hook was a natural location for a fish business; it was on the water and like the lobstering communities of Maine, it was inhabited by fiercely independent do-it-yourself’ers. As it is cut off from most of Brooklyn by the BQE, it has developed a supportive community just like the Maine lobstering community.  Both Susan and Ralph had the backgrounds to make this idea work too.  Susan’s grandfather was raised in Bar Harbor in an orthodox Jewish Family that ran a rooming house with a furniture store.  With the growth of the Bath Iron Works during World War II, her family then moved to Bath to open a men’s clothing shop; the kind of store that would sell work clothes, boy scout uniforms, wedding suits and funeral attire.  Not only did Ralph possess experience from the docks of South Boston, his native city, he was also a natural builder and explorer, a man who could delve into any new area and quickly become an expert.

Ralph and Susan opened the Red Hook Lobster Pound six months later in April of 2009 and it quickly became the food success of the year.  Since we have relationships with the best lobstermen in Maine and all our lobsters are hand picked to insure the highest quality, people were traveling hundreds of miles to Red Hook to sample the freshest lobster in NYC.  Susan oversees the lobster roll extravaganza and Ralph is the Chief Relationship Officer and Captain of our ship. He spends his days making sure that we obtain the finest crustacean available.

Not only was the Red Hook Lobster Pound one of the first food vendors at the Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg, we can also be found at Madison Square Eats and Broadway Bites along with shops in Montauk and Manhattan (March 2014). Red Hook Lobster is also part of Brooklyn Taste at the Barclays Center!  With all this success we asked “Why not lobster on wheels?” and launched our first Lobster Truck (or lobby roll #1) in Washington, DC in late August 2010. The DC lobster truck was an immediate sensation garnering raves and cult-like followers. It is a flash-mob machine truly delivering the “Best Crustacean in the Nation.” We then launched Lobby Roll #2 for DC and Lobby Roll #3 (or Big Red) in NYC in 2011. Big Red was crowned the “Best Food Truck in America” by the Daily Meal in June 2013, which rated 400 food trucks nationwide.

Red Hook Lobster Pound suffered debilitating damage from Hurricane Sandy as did the entire Red Hook neighborhood. After closing for four months, the lobster pound roared back and rebuilt to better sustain itself in its low lying environment, serving its first post-Sandy lobster roll on March 1, 2013 to the Mayor.

            Believe The Hype!!  The Best Sushi Patrolling Ever

Sushi Nakazawa 23 Commerce Street, NYC   (212)-924-2212 DSC02342 I finally made it to Sushi Nakazawa!! This patrolling was definitely the most exciting patrolling ever. Especially since it’s still hard to get a reservation at Sushi Nakazawa. Actually, it’s the most exciting patrolling ever since I started my Cutie Patroller blog!!!  You can believe the hype about Nakawaza. I am not over exaggerating. Sometimes you get disappointed when you have high expectations, but my experience at Nakazawa was so much more than I expected. Super friendly Chef Daisuke Nakazawa explained each nigiri to us in English and Japanese. Chef Nakazawa kindly answered any questions I had with smile. Also, how cute is it that he uses a mini iPad to show pictures of fish and explain each nigiri to the counter guests? This is definitely a new way of “OMOTENASHI” (the heart of Japanese hospitality) and I’m loving it!! We had 20 pieces of sushi Omakase. Plus one extra in the end. All of the sushi pieces were incredible. Traditional, yet each piece had a cute twist. When I had salmon it was full of wara-smoke flavor. The red snapper had Kinkan zest. One of my favorite nigiri was Akagai. Since I’m mini clam which Mirugai, Agarai, Aoyagi, and Awabi are my absolute favorite sushi so when the chef told me he had Akagai I was so excited!! It was the best Akagai I ever had between NY and Japan.

The Best Lunch 2014 at “JUNI”


The Best Lunch Patrolling Ever at JUNI *\(^_^)/* You need to go have lunch at JUNI asap!!!!!! I just had one of the best lunches there the other day!!! I don’t use “the best” all that often, but I am today!!! I came here last November for a four course dinner ($90). Dinner was great, but this business lunch was even better with the company of Restaurant Fairy and The Lord Of The Forks. The place was completely empty, but who cares!!! After this blog post I am pretty sure that it is going to be very hard to make a reservation! haha ~ Anyway~ Anyhow ~ The three of us ordered the three course lunch which was only $35 each. Don’t you just love a lunch course?! You get to feel luxurious having a nice lunch during the week AND you get an unbelievable deal. My food photos below are of all three orders. Since the three of us are food bloggers we don’t mind taking the time to snap photos and, of course, share bites! My three courses consisted of: Appetizer; chickweed – spring potato gnocchi – peekytoe crab Entree; roe – atlantic salmon – lemon essence for the entree Dessert; chocolate – jasmine – grapefruit – pistachio for dessert. The food was elegant, beautifully presented, and (best of all) tasty. To top off our yummy lunch we met Chef Shaun Hergatt and we discussed his creations to try and understand his vision. We all had extra mustard blossoms – goat agnolotti – local ramps. Complements of the chef! He said the dinner menu is very different from my last visit in November. I was surprised to see that they have a 25 course menu!!! I have never heard of 25 courses before. I can’t wait to go back to JUNI soon. This is the best lunch patrolling this year. (^_^) You might need to take a personal day next week so that you can try this lovely lunch!! Gooooooood Luck! xo

OMG Size Holiday Special Macaron!!!!!(^_^)!!!! Everyone got so excited for this giant size Macaron which my friend brought for Thanksgiving dinner but I was thinking in the back of my mind about how ugly this look……. I know….(-_-)zZz …..I know…. Don’t judge me please….I was very thankful for Macaron!! Can you tell what is this supposed to look like!?  Hey Pumpkin Ha!! My friend bought this Macaron at Lower East Side location. Another Bisous Ciao is located on Bleecker Street in West Village. If you wanna bring unique dessert for party then this Macaron is the right one for you.

Happy birthday Yumi ( she is a yorkie and A.K.A. Yumi Kim ) Yumi’s another half Kim throwed her mexican fiesta for her 9 years old birthday. I had my favorite vintage mexican maxi dress on. Each of guest had mexican name and moustache. My name was Carmen for the night. Menu for the big night – Spicy guacamole, mexican style corn ( recipe from local popular restaurant Cafe Habana ),Three different kind of tacos ( Shrimp tocos, Fish tocos, Chicken tacos ), White fish & scallop ceviche and of course margarita and tequila shot all night long!!! The end of night Yumi told me & Kim “I have gooooooooooood life bitches” You are very welcome Yumi  (^_^) / OMG We already decided next year party for Yumi!!! She is turning 10 years old so “Japanese” for sure.
