Spanish Tapas ”Sol”

Sol is a new Spanish tapas restaurant in underneath cocktail bar Bourgeois Pig in Greenwich Village. Atmosphere is casual, dark and sexy. The restaurant itself only 16 stool plus a one small high table in the middle. I sat at the chef’s counter right in front of the kitchen which gives you full view of the small, open kitchen where chef owner D’Ambrosi and his sous chef were working away. I tried 5 different dishes and everything was really delicious and it was beyond my expectation. My favorite thing was Langoustine – Egg Yolk, Matchstick Potato, Crustacean Sauce.

Santina is a another big new restaurant from the Torrisi team. Restaurant is located on Washington Ave and corner of Little W 12th St in Meatpacking District. I was here for dinner and had four dishes. They were all very delish! I normally don’t order lobster dish but I’m glad Knifmade suggested to order. It was worth every penny 🙂 My favorite dish was Cecina (Chickpea-Flour Pancakes) with Lamb Tartare for sure.

Marc Forgione          134 Reade street, (between Hudson St & Greenwich St) NYC

Iron chef America, Chef Marc Forgione has two other restaurants in Tribeca, American Cut and Khe-Yo, but this is his original spot in Tribeca. There were five of us, and of course we ordered two of the chef’s famous dishes: Chili Lobster and Chicken Under a Brick. Both dishes were DIVINE GOODNESS! and perfect comfort food for this weather.  Although I loved those two plates, my favorite was Halibut en Croute, Artichoke, Golden Raisins, Hazelnuts, Sauce “Proposal”.   The sauce is truly rich and fantastic.

At the end of dinner Chef Forgione was so sweet to show up at our table. He told us the story of how he came up with his famous Chili Lobster dish after his  dining experience during an Asia trip. I love love listening to stories like that!! And Chef Forgione gave me his steak knife too! Yay *\(^_^)/* I eat out so much but meeting chefs are always the most exciting part of dining.  The great ambiance and food here is the type where I can come all the time with friends on any night of the week. This place has a New York chic and casual feel to it so it’s nice to take visitors or friends from out of town too. How great to know that Chef Forgione spends a lot of his time here, even though he is SuPa busy with all of his work and projects (♥0).  Thank you chef for the fantastic food and it was wonderful meeting you. xoxo

Jeffrey’s Grocery is located on Waverly Place and corner of Christopher street in West Village. This area is one of most charming part of in New York city ♥

West Village Empire Builder Gabe Stulman, who now run 6 different restaurants in West Village and Greenwich Village area. I’m sure you had been to some of his restaurants if not Jeffrey’s Grocery. Joseph Leonard, Perla, Fedora, Montmartre and they closed Chez Sadine this summer and reopened as Bar Sardine.

Jeffrey’s Grocery is focusing on seafood and American fare. Famous dish is Poached Lobster Pasta broken spaghetti, clams, leeks and tomato $39. It’s expensive yet portion is big and great pasta to share with friends.

Aren’t you always looking for a restaurant with outdoor seating during spring and summer time in NYC !? In my neighborhood Bowery area we have a few restaurants with outdoor seating. Pulino, Gemma, General, Peel…. I had been at all those places so many times so here I was patrolling at Ken & Cook on corner of Bowery St & Kenmare St. This place is great place to meet up with friends after work and enjoy nice weather and casual dinner with glass of wine. The Food was surprisingly good!! NY city offer so many choices of great restaurants and I’m not sure I’m coming here for winter but I will definitely come back here soon before summer end.
